Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and play positively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour victory, took control to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
